These UWI, Mona athletes get ready to participate in the Grand Homecoming Parade and Flag Raising Ceremony on February 16 at the Mona Campus. The Homecoming celebrations, which were held from February 12 to 17, kicked off on Sunday with the annual Commemoration Service at The University Chapel, followed by the Homecoming Parade and Flag Raising Ceremony on Thursday. The celebrations continued on Friday with the staging of Caribbean Day Festival of Food and Culture, and culminated with a public lecture by Professor Donald Robotham, the 2017 Homecoming Honouree. The lecture was entitled, “Getting to the Root of our Crime Problem: University Research and Public Policy.” The annual festivities provide an opportunity to celebrate the founding of The University and recognise its regional nature, while assisting to engender a greater sense of belonging and develop a feeling of camaraderie among staff, students and graduates.
